Why would Customer Service of a major appliance manufacturer try to manipulate someone who bought an appliance?
Two years ago, we purchased a Jenn Air 48" Pro Style Range with Convection Oven in Stainless Steel. Over this time, there were some minor issues, but recently we phoned the manufacturer to report that particles of enamel were breaking off the oven and falling into the food. The Customer Service Representative offered us an $1800.00 discount on a new model. We had already invested nearly $6000.00 including tax for the original item. Shouldn't they have just hauled out this broken down item and replaced it, as well as do some testing as to why the particles were erupting in the oven?
We contacted our Department of Consumer Complaints to investigate this? We are concerned for our own and our childrens' health. But, are there any other such reports that would alert possible consumers about this appliance?

Be nice, let him know your concerns, inform him that customer service is below par and so is the product. If you file a complaint file it in his name to the Better Business Bureau, your State Attorney General's office and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission making Jenn Air liable with his name at the tip.
Certainly your matter will be handled the way it should have been in the first place. Remember, give him a chance to work it out, be decent. If heat and flaking materials were not involved this would not be an emergent series of events, but your family can be sickened or poisoned from faulty workmanship due to high heat temperatures and flaking chemical components (enamel) wafting or falling into the food supply.
I believe your family will be fine. Mr. Fetig is probably a fine man, who could not know the difficulties you face.
